From 2017 to 2019, Higgins, who last won the title in 2011, finished in second place three times. He will compete against Englishman David Grace, who is rated 66th in the world, in the opening round.

According to Higgins, he is prepared to give it his all this year and thinks he still has one more significant victory in him. He won his first World Championship in 1998 and gained further Crucible championships in 2007, 2009, and 2011. Higgins advanced to the tournament’s semifinals the previous year.
