Ronnie O’Sullivan, who has won the tournament seven times, will start as the top-ranked player in the 47th World Championship because of his triumph in the Crucible final last year. Some people think O’Sullivan has a chance to win up to 10 championships and shatter the world record for titles.

If Kyren Wilson wins the Tour final that takes place right before the World Championship, he may advance to the fifth seed. This would put him ahead of Neil Robertson and Shaun Murphy. Murphy wants to become the third player to win the World Grand Prix, Players Championship, and Tour Championship, joining O’Sullivan and Robertson in that club. Regardless of what transpires in, Robertson will be seeded sixth.
