Young Hong Kong Snooker Star Shaun Liu Dominates English Under-14 Championship

Shaun Liu, 12, who just immigrated to the UK with his family and currently attends the Ding Junhui Snooker Academy in Sheffield, won the under-14 snooker competition on Sunday at the Landywood Snooker Club in Walsall. While conceding that it wasn’t his greatest effort, Liu defeated Nicholas Ayers 4-0 in the championship match.

Despite this, he felt proud of his victory and that his dedication and many hours of effort had paid off. Liu has already won the Hong Kong Open Championship in the under-14 and under-21 divisions, according to his father, Cody, who added that his son has been interested in snooker since a young age.

He has been researching the playing philosophies of great players like Ronnie O’Sullivan, Mark Selby, and Shaun Murphy since he wants to be a professional player.

Sam Craigie, the player with the best ranking on the world tour at No. 39, is one of four of the previous 13 winners of the under-14 competition who are presently competing.
